Bringing consistency to email marketing

In 2016, when I started at Cooks of Crocus Hill – a celebrated local culinary school and cooking store in St. Paul, Minnesota – there was no cohesiveness to their email designs. Typography, colors, photo treatments and layouts were all over the place.

I delved deeply into Cooks brand and started reworking all the email templates to be consistent and on-brand. In addition, I optimized the templates for display on mobile. Unfortunately, I never got any screenshots of the mobile versions of these emails. I created new templates in MailChimp and also created templates in Photoshop and Illustrator for graphical elements that I could modify and reuse to quickly create beautiful, brand-focused email marketing. I worked closely with the Director of Marketing to make sure the system was on-brand.

Doing this allowed me to increase the number of emails we were able to send out per week. I went from around 3 emails per week to 5 – 7 per week, and that included planning, designing, coding, testing, and much of the writing — on top of a large plate of other design work.

The Finished Product

Here are just a couple of examples of the many emails I created for Cooks of Crocus Hill.
